Srinagar | Oct 7: Main sirf tera Mehboob tu meri Mehbooba…Mehbooba …Mehboobaa” this is how top Bollywood singer Adnan Sami made his entry on the stage at SKICC before a selected jam packed audience of ministers, bureaucrats, journalists and other civil and police officers.
Many among them had brought their families along to witness the concert “Rhythm in Paradise” of the celebrated Pakistani born Indian singer and musician Adnan Sami on the banks of Dal Lake. The event was staged at the lawns of Sher-e-Kashmir International Convention Centre on the banks of the Dal Lake here.
However, the entry to the event for the common people was restricted which many criticised saying there is no point in organizing concerts where common Kashmiris are barred to visit.
According to sources, Adnan performed for free at the concert, jointly organized by the Union Home Ministry and the Jammu and Kashmir government.
Adnan sang a list of his hit songs like “Koyi Tujhe Samjhaye Na/Tere Bina Jiya Jaye Na/Kashmir Kay Bina Jiya Jaye Na.
He recalled his special relation with J&K saying his mother belonged to Jammu. “
“I have a special relationship with Jammu and Kashmir. My mother belongs to Jammu. Also my pursuit of classical music has been inspired by the spiritual and Sufist moorings of Kashmir,” he said.
He termed the concert as a beginning of the return of Bollywood to Kashmir.
